In the beginning of Oct. 2001 I happened to visit Nigeria. After a total of 14 hours I landed in the middle of the night in complete darkness in Lagos. In the first few days I tried some of the local beer brands like Star, Gulder and some others.
In the second week I started my search for some of the breweries in a city with 15 million people(Lagos).
First and foremost I went to Guinness Breweries. After passing a big gate and a tight security I was able to reach the
reception where I was further directed to a marketing manager. Who then told me a little story about the history of Guinness
in Nigeria and later he gave me few labels to go with.
Further more we went to Nigerian Breweries and unfortunately the person I was supposed to meet was not on seat.
Luckily I was able to get out with few labels from one of the staffs. It wasn't much but ok.
The last days of my visit I was able to get labels from Sona Breweries. In the end I visited a total of 6 Breweries of which 3 named Golden Guinea (Lagos), Superbru (Lagos) and
Associated Breweries(Lagos) where no more existing under the addresses which I had at the time. Finally I couldn't come home with so much labels, therefore I met a lot of friendly people.
